Happy New Year, lovely people!
Today’s post is going to be dedicated to all you mindful and eco-conscious beautistas. As some of you might know, in 2015 I have been in quite of a journey when it comes to making my lifestyle healthier and cleaner. It’s fun, as I keep discovering new things, some of which we all seem to discover and find out about sooner or later when we have jumped in this beautiful “mindful” bandwagon. There’s a place in our home which is worth considering checking out when it comes to that: our bathroom.
Most of the products that we own, from the usual toothpaste to the many bottles of shampoo in our shower shelves tend to be horribly toxic, are tested on animals, and pollute the environment. Besides, they are also really bad for us and our skin, too. So it’s definitely a good thing to consider switching up our bathroom or beauty routine. There’s plenty of things we can do. The most zero-waste, most natural method is to try making some of our own products. In 2015, I had lots of fun experimenting with homemade deodorant and toothpaste, for example. I also got hooked on coconut oil as an all-round miracle maker.
But, let’s be honest. Not all of us always have time to keep making our own cosmetics, so I also got interested in finding out about good brands of GREEN bathroom goodies. Of course, there are the usual good finds in local organic shops, but as a preppy, pamper-loving girl, where would you find really nice, really interesting eco-conscious products with a luxurious feel to them? You know, the kind of products that you would like to display by your bath counter, marvel at, and use when you’re in the mood for some real bathroom TLC?
I found out about various brands that fit exactly this purpose, also for men. There are some really great brands out there. The problem with those products? They often do not deliver in Luxembourg.
And then, surprise surprise. I found out about this really awesome online shop called NUOO, based in France, shipping to our lovely little country. This new shop has just been launched by two eco-conscious ladies who enjoy a classy bathroom routine. It had all the brands I loved and so many more beautiful, all-natural and eco-conscious products to discover. What’s also really great about this concept? If you’re curious about it, you can subscribe to their monthly NUOO box and try a variety of those products. So this is what I did, as a little end-of-the-year treat to myself!
This lovely, carefully crafted box made of recycled cardboard came with a little booklet presenting each product, which I found really cool as it lets you get all the info and tips that are good to know.
The products were put in this really cute cotton bag, which can of course be re-used for many other purposes.
The product selection in my box was really interesting! It’s also important to note that all of the products were vegan and not tested on animals.
ONE: Re-usable Cleansing Wipe by Lamazuna. This one is truly epic. This wipe doesn’t look mighty, but it is. You can use it to remove makeup and clean your face with only WATER. And the best part, is that it can be re-used for about 300 times. Just imagine how much more eco-friendly this is!
TWO: Lotion de Fleur D’Orange by Shamanuti. Smells like orange blossom which is one of my favourite smells on earth. I also like their quote on the bottle: “Soins simples pour créatures compliquées” which literally means “Simple care for complicated beings” – haha! Unfortunately, as I’m used to thicker stuff, I found it a little thin as a lotion, but it’s refreshing.
THREE: Citrus Blend Aromatic Wash by Evolve Beauty. This 98% natural shower gel smells divine, as it has juniper, lime and lemon in it.
FOUR: Invisible Pore Mask by Ren Skincare. I really recommend this brand for clean & natural skincare. This particular clay-based mask helped a lot with reducing my acne.
FIVE: Volume Shampoo by Unique Haircare. A shampoo that’s 99% natural. Pretty good if you ask me! The texture was all right and the smell was pretty minty, which is good for refreshing the scalp.
Pretty cool, right? You can find all these brands on the NUOO online shop. I definitely recommend you check it out, whether it’s for the e-shop or for their beauty boxes. It’s such a cool concept and I’m more than happy to be supporting them with this post!
Little bonus: You can use the promo code ORLANUOO to get 10% off!
My tip: If you’re not interested in getting a NUOObox subscription for yourself, it’s possible to get it as a gift for someone else. Good idea if you have some beauty-savvy friends who will enjoy it!
