Hello, my name is Nicole and I am happy to join this amazing community, I hope my writings will trigger positive thoughts and changes in your life and inside world. Enjoy 🙂
The first thing that I chose to write about is consciousness and awareness of time spent on social media and technology and the purpose of it.
The first time this thought hit my mind was after watching a video on YouTube by amazing filmmakers from Australia,Cam and Nina, in their video they are becoming aware of the fact that our generation spends way too much time near screens and that we really do need some break once in a while. They suggested to turn off all technological devises for a day or so and just do some fun stuff that you have never done before. I found truth in their words and started digging deeper and it all rolled like a snowball and here are my final thoughts on that topic. I just hope it will plant a little seed in your brain and you commit to changes for good.
Here is the video,if you would like to watch it yourself :
Now…Just take a moment to think when was the last time you spent a day without being online on social media,in front of your laptop or TV? I assume that majority of you will have troubles with answering that question. Don`t you find it a little bit sad that we can not live without world that does not even exist? Without an “online” world.
Just let it sink in, social media and 2D world are consuming a better part of our days/lives, we are constantly in parallel “online reality ” , addicted to our phones, laptops, tablets,TV, that without it we feel anxious and fearing missing out on something? Isn`t it a cause to start worrying?
We get so distracted my our phones, always looking down, that we forget to look up at all the beauty around us. We are taking pictures not for memories, but to post in on our profiles later on,we stopped listening passionately to each other,we get distracted easily,we are not discovering ourselves our lives, nature, our brain and soul, our universe, most of the time we are just scrolling, scrolling our potentials away. There are so many things we have no idea about, even about ourselves, just because we have never wondered, never tried.
By no means this post implying that all social media is bad neither it is about totally abandoning social media. It`s been used for so many amazing things like building friendships, relationships, reconnecting old friends and family, spreading awareness, finding inspiration, jobs, reasons to live,to stay positive, helping those in need, changing the world for the best, but like everything in life, there should be balance. Its about time spent staring at screens versus truly be present in the world.
I just want to say, also for myself, that by limiting your time online, you will not miss out on anything, you will not loose “followers” or become less informed, but by not paying attention to to real life and being present at the moment you are risking on wasting that real moment. Next time you are at the concert, try just to listen to the artist and look, instead of taking millions of pictures and videos, for example.
Just learn how to use “online” world with purpose and meaning. Create something life-changing, inspiring, real. Look up, try new things, travel, talk to strangers. Try spending less time next to the screen and more with people around you.
USE ONLINE WORLD TO FIND INSPIRATION AND INSPIRE OTHERS, THEN KEEP THIS INSPIRATION CLOSE TO YOUR HEART AND LIVE IT.
p.s. For those amazing people who found their passion in working with technology and doing amazing jobs that requires being all the time online and next to technology, I highly recommend watching Cam and Nina’s video BLACKOUT, just take one day off all the devises and let your brain relax and do something interesting and then keep up with doing your amazing job!
I hope it was somehow interesting and you implied positive changes to your daytime routine and are present in the moment.
Thank you and May the odds be ever in your favour 🙂
