Do you have one of those friends who is just super creative, versatile and seems to excel at everything they do? I have 2 such friends – Linda and David from Orla Collective/Kinlake!
The Philosophy behind the ‘Orla Collective‘ is…
By inspiring each other, we can create a sense of community and a positive local movement.
Over the last few months, Linda and David have ventured out of the cyber world and held a series of workshops promoting these beliefs.
In December 2014 there was the ‘Green Goodness’ workshop sharing recipes & tips around seasonal green super foods for peak vitality. This was followed, at the beginning of February , with the ‘Bathroom Cook’ workshop, inspiring us to make our own basic cosmetics. And then at the end of February we had ‘Saturday Munchies – The Orla Collective Brunch!’
What did I tell you? Linda and David should have been ‘Blue Peter’ presenters because it seems there is absolutely nothing they cannot pull off when they put their minds to it!
But, back to the Saturday Munchies – The Orla Collective Brunch, because that’s what this article is supposed to highlight!!!
The concept was a Vegan brunch where attendees could ‘suggest’ their own favourite recipes and the yummiest of these would be served on the day! As Vegan options are still limited in Luxembourg, It was pretty darn cool to be able to try other people’s favourite Vegan dishes and be inspired with creative and seasonal ingredients.
The Brunch was held at Ready?! in Limpertsberg, which is fast becoming the place to be for those in the know ( consider yourself in the know) so the tables were shared in a very relaxed and communal way. As usual for Orla events, the attendees were a very international and eclectic group of people all sharing a common interest in alternative and mindful lifestyles.
One of the most fantastic things about the brunch was that many of the people who attended weren’t actually currently Vegans, but were curious and interested in Vegan food. Note the Shameless plug here from me for Petition#478 – Vegan and Vegetarian food is yummy Guys!!!!
Some of the delights of the menu were Orla’s Tofu Scramble, Xenia’s Spinach rice and Agnieska’s Millet Burgers. Agnieska’s burgers were such a hit with my ‘Flexitarian’ husband that he went back for seconds and, quite possibly, thirds I believe! All the food was beautifully presented and clearly labelled for those of us, like myself, who have allergies.
Yuki and Connie from Ready?! tirelessly filled our beverage requests ,all of which were included in the basic price. And the basic price, ladies and gentlemen; was a jaw-dropping, NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN LUXEMBOURG, Yes I am still in shock, drum roll please…..€10.00 per person.
Unbelievably amazing…€10.00 for all that delicious food and drink. The best value for money I have EVER had in Luxembourg.
The congenial atmosphere led many of us to linger on for that extra Soy latte and Jamie Oliver Fudge bar before heading out to the afternoon sun, nourished and content from our latest Orla experience!
Leaving just one question remaining……..When’s the next one?
